Witness: A witness is a person who testifies under oath at a trial, or in a deposition, regarding experiences of which he or she has personal knowledge. A witness gives a supervised recital of things he or she experienced, whether by sight, hearing, smell, or other sensory perception. A witness may voluntarily offer such information in a legal matter or may be compelled to testify. Witnesses may testify in both civil and criminal legal matters. ‍ ‍legal dictionary.com

The Witness Podcast is based on the idea that our personal experiences with God serve as proof of His existence. Several scriptures refer to Judgment Day and the Final Judgment, or the Great White Throne of Judgment. These are likened to a court of law. In the Bible, Isaiah calls Jesus the Wonderful Counsellor, or in other words, a defense attorney. The Bible also refers to Satan as the accuser, or perhaps, in legal terms, the prosecutor. The Bible calls those of us who have experienced God’s grace, witnesses—people who share the Good News.

I have heard it said of some people, these individuals who endured so much pain and suffering yet remained faithful, that their faithfulness will one day dispel the excuses others thought they had. Their perseverance will also stand as an eternal testament to the greatness of God and His enduring grace and mercy. They will serve as a testimony against the accuser and help seal his fate, as foretold in Scripture.

So, on each episode of The Witness Podcast, we will call someone to the stand—someone who has endured hardship and remained faithful. Someone with a story to share that testifies to the wonders of God’s grace and mercy. I have been inspired by many people in my life. The stories I’ve heard, and even those I’ve seen unfold before me, have given me the strength to face my own trials. Often, I look at my brothers and sisters in Christ and think, “If they can make it, if God can bring them through what they’ve been through, I know I can make it too!”

I am amazed by the wealth of stories around me—stories from people that are rarely told except over dinner tables or in restaurant discussions. Stories I believe deserve a larger platform. If shared, they could inspire someone far away. I hope that you will listen to this podcast and find the inspiration you need to keep going, day after day. If you’re not a believer, I hope this podcast stirs your curiosity again… maybe give God one more chance. Perhaps you will hear your story in someone else’s and realize that, “if they made it, I can too!”
